Copycat Firecracker Chicken Wraps

Copycat Firecracker Chicken Wraps

aka: The Wrap That Will Make You Question Every Other Wrap You've Ever Eaten

These little golden torpedoes of joy are crispy on the outside, cheesy and spicy on the inside, and absolutely zero percent boring. You've been warned.

Ingredients

The Filling (aka The Star of the Show)

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, finely chopped (rotisserie chicken = chef's kiss, zero judgment)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened (not cold. Do NOT use cold cream cheese. We're not animals.)
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (because one cheese is never enough)
  • ¼ cup diced red bell pepper (for color, crunch, and the illusion of eating a vegetable)
  • 2 tablespoons diced jalapeño, seeds removed (keep the seeds if you enjoy chaos)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (fancy garnish energy)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (the secret weapon)
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste (taste it. TASTE IT.)

The Wraps

  • 8 small flour tortillas (the vehicle for all your dreams)
  • Oil for frying, OR cooking spray if you're air frying and pretending it's healthy

The Avocado-Lime Dipping Sauce (The Real MVP)

  • 1 ripe avocado (not the rock-hard one. Not the brown mush one. The Goldilocks avocado.)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • Juice of 1 lime (fresh. Please. We beg.)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (if you're a cilantro hater, swap for parsley and keep it to yourself)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix the filling like you mean it — chicken, cream cheese, Monterey Jack, peppers, jalapeño, green onions, and all the spices. Stir until it looks like something you'd eat straight from the bowl. (No shame if you do.)
  2. Spoon about ¼ cup of filling onto each tortilla. Don't be stingy. This is not the time for portion control.
  3. Roll it up tight like a tiny burrito with ambitions — tuck the sides in, roll firmly, and seal the edge with a little water. Think egg roll, but make it fashion.
  4. Fry at 350°F for 2–3 minutes per side until gloriously golden brown. OR pop them in the air fryer at 390°F for 8–10 minutes if you'd like to feel virtuous. Either way, you win.
  5. Blend the dipping sauce until silky smooth. Taste it. Adjust. Try not to drink it.
  6. Slice in half, serve over shredded lettuce, and drizzle (or drown) everything in that avocado-lime sauce. Take a photo. Post it. Accept the compliments graciously.

Kristine's Hot Takes 🌶️

  • Make a double batch. You'll thank yourself later.
  • These reheat beautifully in the air fryer — if they last that long.
  • Pair with an ice-cold agua fresca or a margarita, because you deserve it.
