What You Need (aka The Lineup)

  • 5 lbs chicken wings (the star of this whole damn show)
  • Slap Ya Mama seasoning (because regular seasoning is for people who don't love themselves)
  • Garlic powder (be generous, cowards measure)
  • Garlic salt (yes, BOTH garlic things — trust the process)
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes (add as much as your soul can handle)
  • Melted butter (enough to make your cardiologist nervous)
  • Krissi's secret BBQ sauce (recipe classified, sorry not sorry)

Let's Get Into It

Step 1 — Season Those Baby Birds

Pat your wings dry — wet wings are sad wings. Toss them in a big-ass bowl and hit them with the Slap Ya Mama, garlic powder, garlic salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Don't be shy. Coat every single crevice. These wings deserve to feel something.

Step 2 — Bake First (The Secret Weapon)

Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with a wire rack (this is non-negotiable, don't @ me). Brush your seasoned wings with melted butter and bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they're golden and the skin is starting to crisp up. This is where the magic begins.

Step 3 — Fry Those Beauties

Heat your oil to 375°F. Drop those pre-baked wings in for 3–5 minutes until they come out looking like absolute golden goddesses. The bake gives them the cook-through, the fry gives them that crunch that'll make you slap somebody. Hence the seasoning name.

Step 4 — The Sauce Situation

Pull those hot wings out and immediately toss them in Krissi's secret BBQ sauce while they're still sizzling. Every. Single. Wing. Gets. Coated. This is not optional. This is religion.

Step 5 — Serve & Accept Your Compliments

Plate them up, stand back, and wait for everyone to lose their minds. You're welcome.

Pro tip: If you're not licking the bowl after tossing these wings, you did something wrong. Go back to Step 4.
