Pork Carnitas, Dog Hair & A Whole Lotta Southern Sass

Well y'all… today's recipe content didn't exactly go according to plan.

You know those people on social media who somehow wake up looking fabulous, cook a five-course meal, decorate their house, film six videos, fold laundry, and still have time to water the flowers?

Bless their hearts.

That wasn't me today.

My hubby recently switched to second shift, and let me tell you… this whole house is trying to figure out what time we're supposed to eat, sleep, and exist. Just when I think I've got a routine, the clock laughs at me.

So instead of making some fancy recipe worthy of a magazine cover, I threw together some quick pork carnitas because, honestly, a girl's gotta eat.

Meanwhile…

I swear my five dogs must be secretly knitting sweaters somewhere because the amount of fur floating through this house is downright impressive. I can sweep one room, turn around to grab the dustpan, and somehow it looks like another dog exploded into a tumbleweed convention.

At this point, I'm convinced dog hair is one of the main food groups around here.

Coffee? Check.

Pork carnitas? Check.

A fresh layer of dog glitter across my kitchen floor? Double check.

I spent more time chasing fur than I did cooking dinner. The broom and I have become close friends. Honestly, if Olympic sweeping were a sport, I'd at least make the qualifying rounds.

But here's the thing…

These are the days I'll probably miss someday.

The barking.

The muddy paw prints.

The never-ending sweeping.

My hubby rushing out the door for work.

The simple dinners that aren't picture perfect but still bring everyone together.

Life isn't always Pinterest pretty.

Sometimes it's paper plates, quick carnitas, coffee that's been reheated three times, and enough dog hair to build another Labrador.

And you know what?

That's home.

So if your house isn't spotless today, if dinner came together in fifteen minutes, and if your biggest accomplishment was keeping everyone fed…

Honey, you're doing just fine.

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I just watched another tumbleweed of dog hair roll through my kitchen.

Either that… or one of the dogs is shedding again.

Honestly, it's hard to tell.

❤️ Until next time…
Keep your coffee hot, your family fed, and don't ask what's seasoning the floor.
